20,000 people dead?!?!
It is true that death is no respector of persons and comes to us all but 20,000 people (and that figure is likely to increase)??? I know the question is pointless, but I cannot help but ponder as to why the most horrendous 'natural disasters' occur in areas where the people are already in greatest need. It is as if poverty is pinning them down for nature to slit their throats. I am so taken aback by the sheer numbers at present to even begin to think of the tragedy (now there's an understatement) in terms of individual human suffering. It's overwhelming and grows ever more so with each news update.
