Random act of kindness

I am truly... stunned, though in a good way. I cannot think of any other words to describe it.
I went over to McDonald's today... I wanted to get one of those fruit & yogurt desserts. Upon leaving the house I put my keys in one pocket and a 20 pound note in the other. Then, I put Drew in harness and we walked over to Foyleside. After waiting donkey's years (the place was packed) I placed my order and reached into my pocket to pay for it only to find that the money was gone. It had to have fallen out (the pockets on this coat aren't the best) between home and Foyleside. I was so embarrassed and told the lady I would have to cancel my order after she had already gotten it ready to go. I didn't know what to do. My face had to have been a few shades redder than my hair. Then, a lady came up to the counter beside me... from where I don't know... and handed the girl a 5 pound note (more than enough to pay for the simple dessert). I was shocked, grateful and embarrassed all at the same time. I could not thank her enough. She shrugged it off saying she'd left her handbag behind once thus putting her in the same position and someone had helped her out. I turned to pick up the wee bag and when I turned around she was gone. Obviously because of my poor vision I couldn't see where she was, but I had to wipe a tear away and just smile.
What a kind thing to do. I know I'll probably never see her again, but whoever she is... thank you. You've done more than just get me my wee dessert... you've made me feel... I don't know... just happy, I suppose.
That was one of the best tasting desserts I've ever had. :-)
