Ok , I think I got my Nano now. Woot woot! It's still in the rough as I'll get out stage, but it's a start. I've got three weeks to put it together. Which I admit, is a lot better than I did two years ago, in which I planned it three days before November, lol.

Alessia sat one twin in her lap while the other sat next to her, golden curl brushing against Alessia's arm. The twin in her lap, a girl, snuggled closer, happy to be in the arms of her stepmother. The other, a boy, leaned closer, eager for the bedtime story their stepmother would tell them.

"Will there be dragons in this one?" Damiano, the boy said with barely contained excitement.

"What about a princess?" Sophia wanted to know.

Alessia laughed and shook her head. "No, tonight I'm going to tell you a different kind of story. A true story."

"Oh." Damiano leaned back, suddenly wary that the bedtime story he always looked forward to hearing was going to be boring that night.

"But," Alessia continued, "this is the kind of story you SHOULD be interested in. Because you're in it."

"We are? How exciting!" the little girl's green eyes sparkled.

"Yes, you are. Once upon a time," she began, "a young wizard named Callisto was conducting magical experiments to stop old age. He tried everything he could think of to stop it, for he himself was afraid of dying. His countrymen did not approve of his experiments, for they believed that they were evil and unnatural, and they tried to stop the wizard from doing such horrible things. Nothing seemed to halt the wizard from finding out great things about the process of old age and the best ways to stop it. Finally they went to the king and told him about this evil wizard, and the king's army chased the wizard out of the country."

"Why did they do that?" the boy wanted to know. "Usually the king would want to know how to stop old age so he could stay on the throne forever."

"Yes, Damiano, but this king was not a normal king. Perhaps he didn't trust the wizard."

Damiano frowned, but did not say more. Alessia continued. "The wizard moved north, and finally settled in this country."

"Here? In Patria? Really?"

"Yes, Sophia. Please listen." She gave them a stern look. "In Patria, not far from where we live today, the wizard found this beautiful young woman. Her name was Alessia."

"That's your name!" Damiano cried out.

"He fell in love with Alessia, and soon the two married. But Alessia could not have any children of her own. This made the wizard very unhappy, because now he knew, without all the experiments he had made in his previous country, that he would never find out how to stop people from dying. So he wanted to live on through his children."

Alessia started to cry, and Sophie clung closer, not understanding the tears, but wanting to comfort her stepmother nonetheless.

"So he found another woman who was capable, and through her, he was able to have two beautiful children, Damiano and Sophia."

The two children's eyes were wide as they listened, unable to interrupt her for fear of her stopping.

"When the woman found out, she wanted to leave, for the wizard made her believe that he was not married. Callisto had tricked her. When she tried to leave and take her children with her, he put an enchantment on her, forcing her to live in a secluded house near where he lived, unable to leave him or see her children. He gave the children to his wife, Alessia, and bade her to raise them as her own."

She stopped and looked at each of them directly in the eyes. The two felt sleepy and could not look away from her face. "Children, this is your father who did this to all of us, and when you are grown, it is your duty to find a way to break the enchantment." The twins slumped over into a deep sleep, eyes flickering slightly beneath their eyelids. "You will hate your father until the day you experience true love for yourselves," she whispered the curse to them. Her magic settled about them like a thick blanket, and dissapated slowly, sinking into their bodies.

She picked up Sophia and placed her in her bed, pushing back the blonde curls from her face. Sometime from her story seemed to be missing, but she couldn't remember what. Suddenly it came to her, and she leaned close to Sophia. "Her name is Cristiana."

Tell me what you think! This story is going to be about Sophia, this is just the intro.
