Apart from the overall Christmasy theme we decided to take over from where the other left off in her chapter so that there will be one story

So in this verse Sherlock was gone for THREE YEARS? Why are you so evil?

Naaah, you just took a step back for a better jump. And when I say "jump"... Also, I'd like to be the cabbie. (It's not a sentence I often use in a Sherlock context. Or in whatever context actually.)

Rule number one: never ever comment after Verity. There's no innuendo left after her visit. :D

ummm, 3 years is canon (thank God Doyle didn't decide to make it the full ten years during which he didn't write) and I'm fairly sure that Mofftiss will stick to that number, too; that's why it's that long.

It wasn't a criticism, I know three years is canon! :-) But it must have seemed sooo much longer for a John-in-love like in this verse than for a John-just-friend like in canon. In fact I hope Mofftiss will keep the proportions rather than the length of time; I mean, they knew each other for 18 months, not ten years, so Sherlock could be gone for six months only. If Mofftiss is kind and not evil like you two. :D

If Mofftiss is kind Muahahahahahahahahahahhahaha, good one ;) I'm sure we'll never surpass the evil of those two :D But you have a point concerning the length of their relationshin in the series. I wonder what they'll do (though if Freeman keeps his hair like it is now three years will be more likely than 18 months :) )

(oh, and we kinda left it open whether they were already in love or not; I tend to believe they only realised after Sherlock's return. But that's just me :) )

They'll just have to say John grew his hair as a sign of mourning. :D

I also prefer to think John realised he was in love after Sherlock's return because otherwise it would have been too horrible for him. For Sherlock it was different, he knew John was alive and he could hope and... What do you mean, "I think you tend to overthink the whole thing"? :D
