Title: Words
Words: surprisingly enough 221
Pairings : Sherlock/John
Disclaimer: Sadly the characters are not mine and no money is made (that would be sooo cool!).
Summary: Sometimes even Sherlock is at a loss for words.
Besides his brain words are the tools Sherlock uses the most. They obey him and do his bidding, he can twist them like snakes until they coil around the unwary and trip them into error. They are his shield and weapon, used to protect himself and shatter others.
But not tonight.
‘John, come to bed with me.’
‘Why?’
And suddenly he’s at a loss for words. All these feelings and the longing and maybe even loving is something he can’t explain. He never learned how to.
So he just sits there, looking at John, waiting for understanding to dawn in his eyes.
His gaze clearly saying: Are you stupid? Please stop waiting for fluffy declarations of feelings. You know I don’t do that. You also know why. Because I need you. And because I want you. And yes, because I love you.
And then John smiles.
The smile clearly saying: Yes, I know you don’t do these things. I don’t need you to do them, because you tell me in so many other ways. That you need me. That you want me. And that you love me. I understand.
This is what Sherlock loves most about John. That he never needs to explain the things that really count. John always understands these. That’s his special gift.
So he just says: ‘Because.’

AN: Thanks to Verity for helping me with the beginning and for the wonderful sentence about words coiling around the unwary!
