Saturday -
So, my last Twitter was 3.10am, I must have gone to bed pretty soon afterwards. Just over 4 hours sleep - Matt set our alarm to 7.30am. I got up and had a shower while Matt got in a quick gym session. Our room service breakfast arrived after he got back - same as before I think (love pancakes...). We got in our Spartan costumes again (made sure the double sided tape wasn't going anywhere!), and headed downstairs. I can't remember where we were supposed to meet up, but we were running late anyway. A group of Serenity costumers were in the lift with us, so we all figured we'd stick together and find our way there. When we got to the lobby, there was an obvious trail of costumers out the door, so we followed along - sure enough the trail led to the parade start. I noticed the large group of Battlestar Galactica costumers across the road, they were doing their group photoshoot. I grabbed my dress train and ran across the road to grab a photo (wish I could have captured their 'So Say We All' on video, but I wasn't quick enough) -
We soon spotted the Spartans just a little further up the road. Found JD and got our parade ribbons, then it was just a matter of waiting around a while. Which wasn't boring, there were just so many amazing costumes in all directions to admire :) It threatened to rain for a while, but it soon stopped. The parade itself was amazing! The number of costumers marching, and the fans lining the street - was just incredible! For someone from a relatively small country, the whole scale of the parade was amazing. A real highlight of the weekend :) My costume stayed in place, it didn't rain, and I got to march next to my spartan :) Afterwards, we hung out for a bit before heading back to our room to get changed (big thanks to Eric for his loan of the Spartan spear and shield, there was no way we could have brought Matt's).
Then afterwards - grabbed food at the M store again, photo uploading, then general wandering around the Marriott, taking photos :) At 2pm, we found ourselves in the Hyatt, and joined the line for the Star Wars Costume Contest. Didn't have to wait long, and got a seat not too far from the stage. I enjoyed the contest - perhaps next year I'll be brave enough to enter? Anyway, afterwards I met
sistersola - it was great to meet you :)
We wandered around, trying to take as many photos as we could. I must admit, I still let my shyness get the better of me - took quite of few photos of costumers I admire but never got the courage to say hi to :( Next year...
Back to our room to get changed for dinner - the 300DC/Spartans had booked a group dinner at Benihana's at 5pm. It was a great evening - sat next to Frances Ann and her husband, chatted away :) I have never eaten with chopsticks before, so that was a bit of an adventure.
And Frances Ann captured my first dinner with chopsticks ;) I'm never photogenic around food... or in general.. But it was a great evening. Where I first started to lose some of my shyness and relax amongst friends :)
When it all wrapped up, we hung around with a few of the 300DC people for a while, before finally making our way back to our room. We relaxed for a bit.... a bit too much. Next thing we know, it was 11pm or so - we'd fallen asleep, on the evening of all the big parties! :( Scrambling to get awake, Matt put on his Riddick and I put on my Snowbunny and we headed down to the Marriott Atrium. It was so late, but I didn't want to miss out. So glad we went :) I ended up meeting so many people in my Snowbunny :) It was so great to meet you all -
jellibean jainamsolo kay_dee70 sistersola (sorry to those who I missed).
I really do need to improve my confidence and social skills :( We eventually called it a night - I would need to get at least a little bit of sleep before the Rebel Legion photoshoot at 10am. A quick stop for snacks and ice cream, then back up to our room. Uploaded our photos, checked e-mails etc - then my last twitter of the night was at 5.48am - I know I went to bed straight after that!
What a day! :)
(ps - I may have mixed up days/times/photos/people ... it's hard trying to remember everything that happened - sorry if I mix it up!)
