Dragon*Con 2011 - Monday

Monday -

It's always a bit sad, waking up on Monday at D*C, knowing it's the last day of the con. Despite the slower pace of the day, I still don't remember that much. Stuff in the morning, then our photo op with Stan Lee at 11am. A woman in the line recognised me as Leia from the line the day before, and said my pic looked great. We had looked and couldn't find it - we could only figure that someone must have stolen it because I was dressed as Leia? So I had to line up to get a reprint :( Took a bit of time, but they were printing out the Stan Lee photos while I was there, so I was able to pick both of them up. Straight afterwards I headed to the 501st Legion fan table for our shift. The con was starting to get noticeably quieter by then, as many people were already checking out of the hotels and heading home.

Met up with Alison, and we grabbed pizza in the food court together. More stuff I don't remember... whoops. Matt hadn't worn his screen used Riddick yet, so we decided to get into our Riddick costumes together. We spent the rest of the con in them, just wandering around, catching up with a few people. Found Bryan Humphrey again and got pics together (we hardly ever get pics in costume together, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how those pics turn out). Checked out the dealers hall one last time - picked out what I wanted to buy as a souvenir this year, a gorgeous hand made glass black & red dragon pendant (which survived the journey home!), I haven't taken a pic yet...

We got changed to go out to dinner - 501st members that were still in town had arranged a dinner at a local buffet restaurant. Matt and I sat with Alison, Dave, Matt and Dale, it was a great way to wrap up an amazing convention with friends. So many laughs, ya'll! Star Wars author Timothy Zahn came over and signed book plates for us all, it was fantastic to meet him :) Afterwards we walked back to help Matt & Dale get their bags and to the Marta - but every possible delay happened - the skywalks were closed, escalators were blocked off... it was crazy! But we finally got them to the train, and we headed back to the Marriott. We decided to get cocktails at the sail bar - I've never had a cocktail before, Alison picked one out for me, it was really nice. While relaxing we realised that I still had one costume left I hadn't worn. There was still a few hours left of the day, so I ran back to the room and got changed into my Tonner 'Renee' Devereaux' costume for a few pics. My feet had had enough of high heels by then, so we finally called it a night and headed back to our room.
