Still 22 days until the end of the world....

Getting a full night's sleep really is boffo, am I right?

For some reason the above line was pre-saved as a draft or something. Weird. I chose to keep it because it was pretty amusing.

I've worked a few 24+ hour shifts for work, and oddly enough I enjoy them. Basically I do five minutes of work an hour and play videogames in between (once I brought my XBOX 360 in, another time I brought my computer). That definitely helped pass the time, but it still felt weird as hell to be in this building for so long.

Kyle's post inspired me to write, though I was never a big poster, I often check LJ to see what my friends are up to. I'd like to encourage people to keep writing, assuming they read this. It's nice to get a little snap shot of people's lives. If you try to keep writing, I will too. Otherwise, how will we stay in touch?

I recently completed another novel. So far that makes Whisper Street, Filter, Dual, Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Six Demon Swing. The first two I'm sure the length is borderline not-novel length, but I know for sure Six Demon Swing is longer than even I thought it was going to be. Hopefully that's a good thing. With what's shaping up to be a body of work (of questionable quality) I've started considering seeking out publishers. The biggest thing right now is time, after work all I want is to relax and eat dinner, not pore over 200-300 pages for grammatical mistakes, re-formatting and revising, reworking if needed, etc. On weekends I usually end up working anyway.

The next novel I plan to write is a love story set in a future decimated by atomic bombs, with mutants living in the ruins of America. It's inspired in theme by Ryan's zombie movie project, but I can say right now it won't have as morbid an ending, but hopefully one just as powerful (but different. No one gets beat to death with a bicycle chain.) I got the idea while listening to a U2 song, particularly the line "Beaten and Blown by the Wind" which will be the title.

Videogames! They're still going strong. It's hard to make as much time for them as I like, and playing World of Warcraft makes it a real challenge to make time for other games. I've met alot of great people on there, which honestly is the only reason I'm still playing. I'm an officer in my guild which is kind of like being a second in command. I know some people by their real names, and a few of them would probably be nice enough to let me visit if I were in their area. The reverse is also true.

I'm starting to feel at peace, which is another thing Kyle touched on that I wanted to write about. All my old cares and concerns are starting to seem trivial, and even things that have been bothering me until recently just don't seem to matter as much. Life is short, enjoy it and the people around you.

Much love to anyone who reads this,
-Mike
