I always thought that, with the exception of textbooks, nothing could beat a real paper book so I had little interest in e-books except for books that were impossible to find, (i.e. The Dark Crystal novelization.) which I had been reading on my iPhone. I got a Nexus 7 for my birthday. With all these kids (well, you know, I have three) to run after, I thought it would make a good all-in-one device. It keeps my calendar, it keeps my grocery lists, it has a couple of simple pass-the-time games...

But my favorite feature is the Kindle app.

Most of my favorite books are old enough to be free. When I was a little girl, I used to bring five or six books with me in a heavy bookbag everywhere I went. I brought five or six because, at my reading speed, I saturate a book in a couple of hours, and I tend to re-read.

As an adult, I had to slim down my purse, and I wound up keeping a single paperback and switching it out frequently. It did what it had to do, though it wasn't nearly as good as having the bookbag.

Now I have a couple dozen books on my Nexus 7, and I love it! I love the ability to have something in my purse that weighs about as much as a paperback and contains LOTS of them.

I still have my own library downstairs in the den for home reading, but as a mobile device, I love my tablet's e-reader!
