Back in March I wrote a blog post commemorating
Next to Godliness hitting the
50k word count. Back then I estimated that the ending was about 5k-10k away. Less than 2 months later and I’ve hit the 61k mark. And it’s still not done.
Oh, I’m close. I’m very close to the end. But at this point I dare not guesstimate my word count. I’ll be mildly shocked however, if the final count is higher than that of
Project C.
A few weeks ago I set a deadline for myself, which was May 19th. Unfortunately I don’t think I’m gonna have it done by then because I’ve been thinking, rethinking, over-analyzing parts of the climax and …not doubting myself exactly, but I am skeptical about certain things, like how characters would act, react and what they would say in this situation or how they would say it.
Or maybe I just get squirrely near the end, but I don’t remember being like this when finishing
Project C or
Blood in the Water.
I guess what I’m saying is that I’m a horrible judge of my own word count?
I’ll let you know what the final tally is.
