An interesting post on
the importance of Downtime scenes in addition to conflict scenes in RPGs.

play LA in March.
I'm starting to think of BoD games and turning over 4e campaign ideas.
The degree to which one must pay lip service to "game balance" in D&D seems to be increasing through the editions, with the result that 4e seems pretty hard to do interesting things with. For example, a highlander style world where killing a demigod transfers the divine power seems like it would break 4e. This might just be a conceptual issue. I'm sure some would consider that such a campaign idea would break 3.x too, but d20 seemed flexible enough to handle that to me. Maybe after further play, I'd see more flexibility in the current edition.
We played a three player game of Battlestar Galactica last night. It's quite good. I can't wait to play it with my group in LA: A more wretched hive of lying bastards*, you'd be hard pressed to find. They'll love it!
(*While also being great guys, and great to game with.)
