The process of reinstalling an OS can be quite traumatic. =/
My laptop had been giving me some problems in the last couple of months, with random shut-downs, the occasional BSOD... so I thought it was high time I reinstalled a save HDD image from September. But it wasn't going to be as easy as I thought it would be! For one thing, I discovered that the image was corrupt, as was the one before that. In fact, the only one that was clean was my original - which meant totally clean slate. I thus spent about 5-6 hours reinstalling everything. Since it was the first time I had ever done it, there was a lot of updating of old software and hit-and-misses with processes and missing drivers.
In any case, I hope that my laptop will now behave itself. It has served me so well that I really loath to think I'll have to contemplate getting a replacement.
In other news, Labour is our new federal government! I know a lot of people are celebrating. I do think it is time for a change, but prove it to us, Mr Rudd. Show us what you can do!
More news: the in-laws have been visiting Perth, and hopefully enjoying it! We went out for dinner on Saturday night at a new place, The Mullaloo Beach Hotel, which surprised us all, I think! The place was beautifully decked out and faced the setting sun - although at 6.30pm we still had the sun fairly high in the sky and giving us a headache if we faced it. However, the food and service was rather nice - and we were all rather stuffed by the time we left. More wedding issues have been settled.
Should get ready for work. Bleh, Monday mornings!
