Commemorating the winter break....

So my month long winter break is finally coming to an end and I can't say I'm not happy about it. In fact, I've been eagerly waiting for classes to start since the last two weeks. I personally believe that a ten day break is more than sufficient to relax and rejeuvenate oneself(unless of course it involves travelling to your home country in which case even one month would not suffice!).Apart from that I don't enjoy breaks that seem to stretch forever.

This winter, I met some old friends from India. I also met my math teacher from school who is currently visiting her son in NY. I also helped friends with their luggage, be it packing or lugging it till the airport, all the while wishing I could trade places. In fact, I escorted three people to three different airports in the span of a week. I helped my new roommate pack/move stuff in her old apartment. And in between all of that I also critiqued my brother's SoP. Plus, NY looks splendid at Christmas. I saw some really amazing christmas decorations. So all in all it was a pretty busy 10 days.

After getting over the new year hangover though, everyone around me was back to their regular routine lives. The worst punishment you can give a person is put him in solitary confinement. It's not that I want to be in a conversation all the time. Frankly, I dont care if I'm alone in a crowd. But having that crowd around me is important.

So, I borrowed some books and dvds from the library to keep me occupied. I did things that I had postponed for later because I was always submerged in assignments. I chatted for hours with my family back home. But I still needed the physical presence of people around me. The days seemed really long and never ending despite all my distractions. I felt as though I was under house arrest and the weather outside was not tempting enough to just step out for a walk.

Anyway, things changed in the last week when my supervisor told me I could start work again. In fact, I literally danced with joy when I received his mail. I reported to work within two hours of receiving it!

Another new semester begins tomorrow, and I hope I will have a great time getting through this one as well. Just a little over 24 hours left to get back to life. Ah! How I rejoice at the thought of getting back to the monotony of routine! :-)

p.s. If I ever crib about having too much work..feel free to redirect me to this post
