Oh hell to the no, Suzanne Collins

Today, at about 10.00 in the morning, while sitting on a bus, I was reading Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins and found out that...

Finnick dies. Finnick dies. FINNICK DIES. Finnick who I absolutely loved, Finnick who just got married to Annie, after suffering a life of prositution; Suzanne Collins had his head ripped off by a mutt. I just. I just couldn't believe it, I still can't. He's dead, and he's not coming back. Of course, I haven't finished the book yet, Collins could reveal some ingenious twist at the end where Finnick is actually alive and didn't die and everything's all sunshine and roses, but that's not her style is it?

It was so hard for me not to react on the bus. I think I might have made a weird face and suddenly had a strong urge to stare out the window. Absolutely the wrong place to read that particular bit of news. At least if I was at home I could have yelled out a 'WHAT?!?!'.

I don't know, I really thought Finnick would survive at the end. Even with Katniss's little group falling one-by-one at the moment, I thought he'd stick it out till the end. And the pace of the book doesn't even allow Katniss a moment to grieve, so I feel like I can't properly either. (Is that insane? Probably)

It just feels like, with every death, Snow wins more and more. Even if they do kill him, look at what he's done to all of them. And now Gale's bleeding from the neck and anyone could die before I finish this thing. Which makes me a little scared. But I shall soldier on. I have to finish this thing now, or else it'll just prey on my mind forever.

ONWARDS!!!

(Oh, and I think it goes without saying, no spoilers for the rest of the book, please and thank you! ;)
