Eric's luggage got here just in time for the beginning of my birthday Monday night/Tuesday morning. It contained my corset and my dress for the dance as well as clothing for Eric. So that was good.
After class on Tuesday, I took Eric out monument hopping and we hit the Tidal Basin/Jefferson Memorial just as the sun was setting. It was gorgeous. By the time we were done there we were both hungry and tired, but happy. So we made our way to Indique and sat at the bar for about an hour until the manager told us the table was ready. I had two drinks on my sister who had sent me money and then the bartender poured us a free drink since it was my 21st birthday and all. That darling man of mine also had flowers delivered to the restaurant, half a dozen red roses. And the food was awesome. All in all we had a great time. Then we got home and there were several more Valentine's Day surprises waiting (Lipe had stuck a red rose to the door earlier), from Loralee (including one for Eric) and from Carmen. The best thing was a note from Anne saying she was staying at Yuma for the night so we could have the room to ourselves.
Wednesday we were going to get up early and go museuming but didn't actually make it. Then I had class in the middle of the day and after that we went over to Yuma where Eric ended up meeting all the inhabitants of said place and cooking mashed potatoes and pork and asparagus which was enjoyed by all who tried it. Have I mentioned how much I love men who cook?
Thursday I was going to take him to class, but the class got cancelled so instead we went downtown again and puttered around the Museum of Natural History and then went to take pictures of the capitol building.
Friday I first had an exam that I finished in half an hour and then I took him to my Water Resources class, which was fun. Then while I went to my boring Friday afternoon block, he went to Pentagon City to get his tux for the dance. After we both got back, we went to Yuma and we both puttered around in the kitchen and made spaghetti. We had just started eating when the first people started arriving for my birthday party. That turned out to be a whole lot of fun, which Carmen and Little Sam acting out Gestures, two rounds of werewolf, and an awesome, and rather confusing, game of Ligretto (confusing not because I didn't know how to play, but because there were cards flying everywhere).
Saturday I sat down at the desk for six hours from 3-9am, while Eric kept me company. We ordered food and read our books. We got up relatively early for a Saturday and went to pick up our flowers. Unfortunately we ended up running rather late, then my dress gave me troubles, and my hair wouldn't stay the way I wanted it. Dinner was yummy though when we finally got the restaurant. And the dance was good, although the DJ could have been better. It was just nice to hang out with all my friends and look at all the pretty dresses around me. Not to mention that Eric looked really handsome. After walking to Yuma in the freezing cold to pick up our stuff, we just stayed there on the couch.
Sunday he packed, and I repacked for him so the now empty garment bag would fit in the suitcase, and then we had a bit of a scare when my mom called and said his flight had been rescheduled for Monday morning at 6am. So after much frantic calling, we finally went to the airport, with a brief stop for me at Pentagon City to return his tux, and found out that everything was alright. Which meant I watched him walk through security and then headed back to the dorm. Sadness. I will see him again in less than three weeks, but sometimes that seems like forever. Especially since I have plenty and more to do before then.
