Finally!

Oct 02, 2005 02:03

I finally did some stuff that I've been meaning to do for a while. I finally turned in my honorization form to the honors office and picked up the letter my mom had sent to the letter hell in Letts basement which is open only at times when I'm at class or asleep.

On another note, we finally got our green cards. This is a very exciting time in my life, because I do not have to worry about things like the International Student Office or only being able to work on campus or thinking about which company will want me badly enough to have to go through all the hassle of getting me a work visa. I also have an official status again. Instead of holding the dubious title of "legal alien" or worse "pending permanent residency" I am now a permanent resident, or a "resident alien." Only in America... why are foreigners called aliens? We're still human beings with all the same feelings and motivations. And having lived in the US for half of my life, I consider this my home. Although, in truth, Germany does strike some sort of chord inside me whenever I go to visit my grandparents, but I can't realistically see myself living there the rest of my life.

I'm also finally in the last part of my second rotation this weekend. I have another 45 minutes to go in the company of Sarah, and then I have my regular shift from 3-5am. I literally slept all day yesterday when I wasn't down at the desk working or in the mail room logging. Which was very odd, because Anne's friend, Brandon, who's visiting right now, closed the blinds, which are never closed. So I was very confused when I woke up. And then he sat in the dark and did something on the computer. Strange kid, so much for saying he was going to sleep. But he's rather nice, and I have not felt in the least put out by his presence in our room.

I have also finally started the book I have to read by Oct. 19th. Now, this may seem like a long time, but it is a school book, and while I can sit and read a book I'm reading for fun for hours on end, textbooks just don't work like that. Which is why I have a very hard time keeping up with readings for class. Especially for classes like Biology where the textbooks are completely dry on top of being huge.

There, that was my list of things that have finally happened. Mixed in with a rant or two.
