Here's a list of projects I want to explore and acomplish in 270 summer printmaking class.
Project 1 Twisted Flesh.
I've seen transformation and healing sequances usally depicted through a flash of light. I think they leave out the core elements of what a transformation is which is what inside the body changes. Muscles and organs are usally seen as something dreadful to look at. Painful.
I want to make a transformation of tissue beutiful. I want to draw the changes of muscles in a way that is like ribbons bursting into the wind... something that would bring awe to the viewer.
I'm planning on this being a drawing or etching. I want it to be much more detailed than my previous attempts. Something more abstract without a figure would be perferable.
Project 2 and/or 3 Contunuation of collage colligraphs
I really loved how the wing project worked out in spring semester's printmaking.
The wing print was a colligraph created with many cut out papers collaged in a pattern on to the board. The papers were glued on by overlapping giving the image an animal scales or wing like appearance.
I want to contunue it making several prints, yet due to time restrains I might have to only make two or three.
Subject matter might be absract wing patterns, scales, pinecones, rose flowers and sun rays.
For sure I want to make something like pinecones. They have a scale like overlapping that looks visually interesting. I think covering an entire colligraph with cut outs that look pinecones would be fun.
There's going to be an art show at the AI convention first weekend of August. I might want to make a few smaller prints for it. People perfer fantasy subject works so I might add some figures to some of the patterns... maybe some wing patterns.
