Melbourne Cup Day
Have discovered where everyone goes today. They're either at the TAB or in Bunnings.
My local TAB turns out to be the Brunswick Club so disappointment at stupid horsie coming 19th(!!!) is tempered with joy at having survived the bet-placing experience at all.
Bunnings was doing well, most people making use of the day as a bonus weekend day to Get Things Done. I like Bunnings, except it's worse than IKEA for sucking me in to buying items I didn't plan to get (note I did not say "items I do not need". Everything at Bunnings is utterly necessary and even their faux-tupperware is better than IKEA's.)
My Wollemi Pine is now re-potted, staked and placed on a pedestal. Have leftover wooden garden stakes too, should anyone develop a pesky vampire problem. Myself, I think I will be restricted to killing aphids, as soon as I can discover a suitably non-toxic way to do it. Google ahoy!
