monday-wednesday, paypal drama. i may detail the story later like i planned, or i might not. it's over now. and i hate them. a lot.
sometime during that time (wednesday maybe?) i had several meetings that made me realize the rest of the work week was going to suck liek woah, and lo! it did!
Thursday was particularly bad. i kind of wanted to disconnect my phone from all the people asking for things, but of course that wouldn't stop the people coming in person. It was rushrushrush all day for every last minute job that was dropped in my lap, and other people failing to show up for meetings (or in one case, even worse, someone showing up). i rather want to take a mental health sick day on monday, but only because that means I'd get out of all of bad!linda's all-hands crap.
I also got a call from Dijana, who is leaving town. She quit her job last week, took the trip she'd already planned to ecuador, and then started calling people for her going-away party on Friday night. I was worried because Di's taste in
restaurants is always 'expensive' but looking at the menu it seemed actually very reasonable.
Until I got there, because it was like 7 dollars for...about 5 bites. There were 11 of us total, all late (though technically i was there half an hour early, i was in the restroom when she arrived, so i was a little bit late. Since the restaurant was about 1 metro stop from my office, it seemed a waste to go home and then come back so i went to MLK library and got
A Much Younger Man recommended by
karinberry and then walked to the restaurant and yes, was there very early) because of the OMG FUCKING POURING RAIN. Dante joked about how instead of walking he should have brought a boat. Tego was the last, partly because she got out of work at 6 (when dinner started) and partly because she got so soaked she had to go home and change every single article of clothing she had on. And I hadn't seen Kyle since, oh, probably sophomore year. His skin's cleared up.
Aside from the pricetag, dinner was good. I did try the grasshopper taco, on the recommendation of one of Di's other friends, who said they were very good. They were, actually, very, very good. But they seem to agree with me less today. ugh. :(
I made potato salad with some help from Tego late last night after Di's dinner, and we took it to my church picnic today. everything was very good, and we left very full. It's a very nice park, right by the East Falls Church metro.
Now the pens are playing the redwings, tied 1-1.
