"And the key here--pay attention Jin, this is the most important part--is blend thoroughly, but not to overdo it." Sarah instructed, before pushing the 'blend' button on the antiquated blender. "Until you get the hang of judging just when it's been mixed enough but not too much, you get the same effect by blending in short bursts and stopping to check on it periodically to see what your consistency is."

Jin watched intently while Sarah demonstrated this beginner's technique for him. She pulsed it to perfection, and then turned the blender off and removed the lid. She poured the chocolate milkshake carefully into two tall glasses that Jin held at the ready.

She let him get in one sip--which he savoured almost comically--and then put a hand on his wrist to stop him from taking anymore. "Alright, tell me the important steps to making a milkshake that will bring all the boys to your yard. Each one you get right gets you another sip of milkshake. Each one you get wrong gets me a sip of your milkshake."

Dammit, she was a slave driver, this woman. "Put the ice cream in first, then pour the milk in after. That way you don't splash." Sarah moved her hand and Jin took his sip. If anything, he worked to enjoy that one even longer, because hey, maybe she'd discount his answers on technicalities. He would if it meant he'd get more milkshake.

"...and most importantly, never ever forget to secure the lid on the top before you start blending," Jin finished up, but Sarah didn't loosen her grasp around his wrist. She narrowed her eyes at him, and he gulped involuntarily. For a little person, she was kind of scary.

She shook his wrist warningly. "And?" she prompted.

"and...and for that way leads ruin. And a dirty kitchen," Jin blurted as her wording came back to him. Sarah looked at him hard for another long moment, and then smiled and nodded and let him have the rest of his milkshake. Mmmm, bliss. In a cup.
