So I discovered I still have the problem, even after this many years in fandom, that when I see 'fists himself' I don't automatically think hand around the penis so much as fisting. Which, uh, ouch.

this is v true. wikipedia is one of my favourite things ever. even if you can't necessarily guarantee 100% accuracy, it's at least as good as any heard-through-the-grapevine information, and covers more topics than my immediate circle of friends. also! i don't have to necessarily go through the embarrassment of asking stupid questions.
