Sometimes Jin slips up and almost calls him "Kazu - Kame," looking guilty that he again referenced a past both of them just want to forget. He always beats a hasty escape after the slightly awkward silence that falls, Kame not too sure how to express that he doesn't mind, that he would like it - really, he would - if they could just try a little harder the next time around.
He talks about this with Koki, sometimes - only Koki's overprotective and strong in his biases - but mostly with Yamapi. It's strange because he and Yamapi aren't even really friends, though they had Shuuji to Akira, which Kame feels makes them even closer than friends. Which, in retrospect, is strange, because all logic says that Kame should have a terrible grudge against Yamapi, whom everyone important forgave for Shuuji to Akira right away, but took them a much longer time to forgive Kame.
"I don't like it," Kame will complain sometimes in between breaks, when he's slipped away to consult with Yamapi in their preferred meet up (the third floor bathroom). "I personally don't think it's that big a deal anymore."
"Give him time," Yamapi will tell him. "He's Jin, you know? Besides, Jin's always been bad at disliking people he knows he likes."
Kame grumbles slightly, but he knows Yamapi's right, Jin's not predictable, per se, but he doesn't change much. Still, it's a bit worrisome - Jin's also surprisingly hardheaded about holding grudges, not to mention easily angered. There's always going to be something about Jin that Kame likes, however, something about his awkwardness and his selfishness and his strange kindness.
As if he could read Kame's mind, Yamapi quickly leans forward to put an arm around Kame, so he's pulled into an awkward half-hug. "Kon," he whispers, poking Kame's cheek, and then flashing him a victory sign in memento of Nobuta days. "Kame power!" Yamapi says, and that's the power of Yamapi, Kame thinks - he always manages to make him think things will be better.

i love the bit where their preferred place to meet is the third floor bathroom.
Besides, Jin's always been bad at dislking people he knows he likes.
