I always hear people say "perscription" instead of "prescription", but people are kind of dumb. Especially over here. XD But, "perspective" and "prespective"... is new. "Prespective" makes me think "prospective", which is totally different from "perspective".

On a side note, it really bugs me when people can't spell. I wish I had a red pen that could reach through the screen.

metathesis happens. Like, 'ask' used to be writtten and pronounced 'aks' but then people kind of switched the s and the k, so that eventually, when they standardized the spelling, it was standardized as 'ask'.

'perspective' when pronounced with the 'r' before the 'e' though, isn't a long e sound. It's kind of like the 'a' in 'and' when you say it really fast. It's a vowel that's pronounced so little it's barely even there.

well, now it kind of is, because 'aks' is one of the more prominent lexical differences between MAE and AAVE. Um. It's also a feature of Appalachian English. I'm not sure if the african american community metathesized it back later, or if they just never lost it, but the general idea about the appalachian side of things is that they never lost it because they were so isolated when the rest of the country was losing it (and their other elizabethan english-like features).

you don't always pronunce the 'a' in 'and' like the 'a' in aesthetic, though. If you did, you'd sound really weird. Usually it's pronounced a schwa. ;jkafjlkfa i would type it in IPA but lj doesn't support it. you can try looking up schwa on teh internets, it would probalby explain better (and maybe with sound clips)

...I wonder if it's a regional difference, then. xD Because it seems to me that that is how I pronounce it, for both 'and' and 'aesthetic'. If anything, I end up dropping the 'd' on 'and' when I speak fast. Maybe I should do one of those voice post thingies someday, so you can hear how I talk and see. xD

i. spell it both ways? one of my high school teachers once told us that 'theatre' is the discipline, and 'theater' is the building, so that's how i've used it ever since. I dunno if that's true, though XD

It's not really regional, but it does have a lot to do with how fast you're speaking, and whether or not 'and' is the first words in the utterance. You probably drop the d too.
