I thought the onion one was kinda sad too! Then later I was reading the analysis-type thing that was also in there, and the author was saying how it showed powerful women choosing what they want. I thought it just showed dumb women choosing what they want! Onions over their marriage? And the guys kicking them out? How dumb are they too? I don't think any of them are particularly grand examples.
I loved Hedley Kow (pronounced 'koo')! That's my kind of woman, and now I want a trickster of my own to chat with.
I also liked the one about the princess who wants to make her own way in the world and ends up getting the box that summons other prince dude. And 'Kate Crackernuts' if nothing else for that marvelous name.
I'd be happy to help you in a trial run to see how it works, if you can arrange it so that I don't end up in a smut!thread. But I probably won't sign up for the real rounds because I can't expect others to be as helpful to me as you are.
I loved Peyton's comment!ficcage. It was so cute. Koyamama makes me happy desu!

well, i'm not sure it's dumb, exactly. marriage in my mind isn't necessarily all that awesome, especially if your husband really does kick you out over onions. On the other hand, maybe they were some mighty fine onions.
In conclusion, at least they got to be stars.
yes, pronounced koo. XD
The one with the hare the devil is hunting and the old woman who tricks him, though, that one always kind of creeped me out.
And of course Tatterhood. I liked that a lot. There is the lopping off of heads!
You don't have to read the fic before if you don't want. They probably wouldn't be having sex in the middle of the last paragraph, you know.
Isn't it adorable?
Reply
True, they did get to be stars. Definitely a plus.
The picture on that one was creepy! The headless horse? Ew.
Naturally, Tatterhood is a given.
It's supposed to be a round robin though. It's kind of hard to build off a fic if you've never read the previous. (yes, I know, it need not have anything to do with the previous one, but still) And about the last paragraph, your example was a little...well, I wouldn't feel comfortable writing a fic based on that, and I don't want to cause problems for you and others, so I would probably just enjoy the fruits of others labo(u)rs, as usual.
It is! Koyama wants to huggle everyone, and we all want to huggle him. XD
That cat video you sent me is the most concentrated amount of cute I may have ever seen. I literally could not help verbally 'aww'ing at it. So naturally I sent it to my family, and they loved it too.

the queen was kind of useless though.
it's not really a round robin. It's shiritori. The stuff before the bit you take don't matter, just the last syllable. And you can't end in ん.
the example was because it was a convenient fic (towards the top, i wrote it), and was open-ended.
I meh at you. it's a very emphatic meh.
member ai~
IS IT NOT? OMG, IT PHYSICALLY HURT ME NOT TO WATCH IT TWICE IN A ROW.
Reply
Oh! Is that what a shiritori is! I've only ever seen you use it and in association with round robin, so I thought they were entirely synonymous. Well, in that case, I might do it. How about this, I sign up for the trial, and we'll see how it goes. Now all you need is the trial sign-up post up! Or are you not planning on doing a trial sign-up post?
See what emphatic meh's can do? Use them with care, yo.
Or just general Koyamai.
DESHOU!!!!!! I think I even teared up at one point just because of the concentrated cute! It was fluffy! I want that in...well, at the top of my fuzzy pile, yo.

shiritori is a japanese word game, so i kind of assumed that people would know what i meant.
well, i'd envisioned that post being the sign up for the practice session, but apparently i didn't express that part clearly. So then I thought, I would do a sign-up for the trial run, but then, everyone is crazy busy these days, and i know i am too, so then i wasn't sure if i should go through with it after all.

koyamai. you know. they shouldn't let you anywhere near language.
i know~ i'm not really a pet person because i'm lazy, but omg. i never wanted a kitty so bad in my life.
have you listened to Prisoner of Love yet? youtube link to the intro of the show. I really like how it's done. it's gorgeous. and touching. and makes me want to meta. which i thought i'd never want to do again.
Reply
Never assume. It has bad consequences. Shiritori reminds me of that game where you say a place name, then the next person has to say a place name beginning with the last letter of the previous answer.
I think you should. Maybe make the time periods shorter and the word count short. (Like 3 days and 500 words, or something like that. Just enough to get a feel for it.) And yes, I will sign up. Because I love you that much.
you know. they shouldn't let you anywhere near language.
hahahahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*gasps for air*
I believe that there is a standing restraining order against me in all tone languages, and Japanese is working on a cease and desist. Which is why I'm going for sign language and click languages.
I hadn't listened to Prisoner of Love, but now I have! Actually, the song itself means very little to me, because I can't understand anything other than "I'm a prisoner of love" (but that is a commendable English accent, btw), but the intro is really interesting. I like the fabric that they go through, and I entirely dislike Junpei's hair. And yes, he will always be Junpei, though now I don't even remember what he was Junpei in! Oh, and the red string/ribbon that they all follow and get tied together with is very very interesting.
I think my favorite thing that I would want to meta on is Ryo's tie. Now, all I know about this show is that Ryo plays an abusive boyfriend who has a dayjob in child services. Clearly, I'm only getting the JE end of this. But anyway, I was immediately drawn to how he was the only one with any black against his white clothing, and the fact that the black was wrapped around his neck. Oooh, the symbolism. I like so much!
I feel strangely like nihongofrancais at the moment.

That's true. It's just that. This is a japanese pop fandom. JIN AND PLAYED SHIRITORI IN THE CAR IN ONE OF THE OKINAWA EPISODES OF CARTOON KAT-TUN YO. every good kat-tun fan, at the very least, should have exposure.
Would making the time frame shorter help, though?
If you click through the related videos, you can probably get a performance version, which would a) have the words at the bottom of the screen and b) probably be longer--this matters because there's more english later.
Her English is good because she grew up at least partially in the states. She went to Columbia for a while, i think, as well, but i think she dropped to do the popstar in japan thing.
awww. I love junpei's hair. it's much better than his ogiwara hair.
red string of fate strikes again!
!!! I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE RYO'S CLOTHING IN THE INTRO. not at all. wow. SUCH A GOOD POINT!! I kept getting caught on yo ruka wraps michiru up in the white sheet, and leans in and how michiru's face just kind of, idk, it's like all the bad things go away and she's at peace.
why do you feel like nihongofrancais? oh. duh. drama meta.

OH!!!! I remember that!!!! Now that you mention it, I have seen it; I just didn't know or forgot what it was called.
...and yes, you fail BIG TIME, but I forgive you, because I love you.
Well, if you wanted to get a quick feel for if this will work, then yes I think 3 days will help. Plus, if you frame it as something that they can just blast off in a couple days, just as a test, then I think it would work.
Or you could just make it a 2 or 3 person chain and give everyone a week stil. You'll still know relatively quickly I suppose. But lowering the word count would definitely be a good idea still. Since it is just a test. This could be really, really cracky. Good times!
Hmm, now I'll have to really concentrate on the song and its English.
AHA!!! Now I remember why I think of him as Junpei. Kimi wa Petto. I don't know about the hair. It's still pretty out there.
You're right about them leaning in. They do look really peaceful and content and just...intimate. Not in a sexual way, but it's a close moment. I think it would have meant more if I had actually seen the first episode.
Ryo! I watched it an extra 3 times just to see how else the black tie fit in. *buruburu*
Big duh. Of course for the drama meta!
Oh! The potential metathesis. I think I say it in fast speech as pescription (just a schwa, no r or rotasizing). Though I usually diminish ask to [as], so maybe it's a consistent pattern.

Just remember, "Good fences make good neighbours."
Isn't the minimum, um. 600 words? but i don't really have a problem with lowering it. hmmm.
The only reason I don't want to do 3 day rounds is because i know that i don't have that much time in the next three days.
I hope that it turns into a lot of fun.
I'm so sorry! I meant to say that he was from kimi wa petto, but apparently i forgot to say that too. Wow. i'm doing really well tonight.
No, it doesn't look sexual, but it looks close and comfortable and soothing. I vaguely remember therelic once telling me how shoujo ai was often portrayed in Japanese media, and i feel like that kind of thing might be nice to get a refresher on.
It probably wouldn't. Not that much happened in the first ep in terms of their relationship, though a person in a coma could probably spot the unrequited love ruka has for michiru. Actually, i think i'm interpreting a lot of this drama based on the intro in terms of what's going to happen.
how else did the tie fit in?
Mine is rhotacized in fast speech, and in careful speech (err, which i never do) it's always pree-scrip-shun

Oh. I missed the lower limit of 600. I thought that it was at 1000. I'm blind. But I still think lowering the limit helps make it feel
It is a little harder when the moderator doesn't have time. Though it's not in the next three days that you would have to write. You have to collect signups before you can assign and then write. But that is more work on you. I'm here to help if you want.
Daijoubu. I got it eventually.
Sou desu. What does shoujo ai mean again? I know that various manga are shoujo, and those tend to appeal more to girls, but I don't know what it means exactly.
Wait wait, whozizwho? I don't know any names/characters other than Ryo. Though trying to guess the entire plot based off the opening credits sounds like fun. :D
I mostly just saw more variations on theme. Like how he was contradiction, and how that fits in really nicely with the tie. It's in contradiction to his own outfit as well as everyone else's. Also how the black coffee fills the inside of white cup and spills over, taking over the white. And I don't know if this was intentional, but his red-bound wrist is right over the black which is right over his heart.
When I say it slow it's perscription. So I have to think twice about spelling.

good point! i will put that in when i make up the test run sign-up.
i mean. i don't think i could write in the next week, probably 2.
you're a lovely, lovely person.
shoujo = girl (well, technically a young girl, but it's not really used that exactly, i don't think)
ai = love
shounen ai = boylove.
shoujo ai = girllove.
ruka is the girl with the short hair.
michiru is the girl who got the 'love' label.
ryo is sousuke
junpei is is takeru
and i can't remember the last one's name.
I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. talking to you took more of my attention.
