we stopped at a denny's attached to a best western right up next to King's Dominion (which seems to be a theme park of the 6 flags variety). Every single person on the wait staff were foreign students from asia. Literally. Every. Single. One. Like, what are the odds? I guess there's a college near there too then.
pimpin': Three Percent. The inflated version of the percentage all translations (into English) published in the US. This number is counting re-translations, language textbooks and the like, though. There's actually something like 0.7% of new translations every year. This website has a list of all translations published in English per year (though it's quite new as a website), and little capsule synopses about the books. I really, really rec this if you like to read at all.

Bought a book from Kinokuniya's stand at the end-of-conference discount/rush. I think it was overpriced, but it was less overpriced than i could get it anywhere but Japan, so I figured I might as well get it then. The other book I wanted (would have been 40% off) had been sold, unfortunately. I can still order it at a 20% discount, but now that i've more time to think about it and less of a discount, I might change my mind.
Newest JEPcast. in which there is a whole cross-country tour of blowjobs. At least, that's what it sounded like to me.
So I couldn't quite resist not attempting a write-up of the crazy explosion of meta afterall. It's just a general summary of what had been said. I don't come to any real conclusions. And it's probably full of mistakes. At any rate, I'll post it soon, once the trickle there more or less stops.
At any rate, I'm back safely in VA and hopelessly behind on my homework, so I'm off to do that. I may turn off the internet. Luckily dad said he'd drive me to school on his way back home (since he'd be passing by anyway), so I can sleep in an extra half an hour. yay!
