i'm not nearly as high as I'd hoped to be

though I was, no doubt, during the actual surgery.
of course, the world has stopped spinning prettily, so that's a plus.
i woked up early in the morning and went straight to the dentist's office. They gave me a motrin, some antibiotic that starts with an m (monoxocylin? corrections/spelling anyone?) and 2 valium. The valium didn't really do anything, probably because I was all worked up about the IV they were going to give me. I don't like needles.
So they gave me laughing gas, and suddenly, i didn't care. then they put the IV in and I woke up I don't know how much later and it was over and they were asking me how I felt.

I kept dozing off in the chair while they kept asking me how i was until they had me move to another little bed thing somewhere else and gave me a blanket and possibly went to get my mother. They had me sit up and made sure i wasn't going to be sick--i felt fine--and then while I blinked muzzily out at the world, they gave my mother some perscriptions and instructions and I got to go home.

I put (or rather, had probably mom put) Howl's Moving Castle, a present from my sister Rocky, in the dvd player because I'd never seen it. Japanese, but with subtitles because I wasn't really up for anything, and maybe 20 minutes in, the jianjian comes into the room and I ask her to turn it off and change the channel to something I can sleep to. She says that she'd barely done it before I was out.
I finished it later. it was visually interesting sometimes, and good japanese practice, but really, ultimately pointless.

dammit! All I seem to see on tv or read about in my book (which i just finished. now i need a new one) is all the foods I CAN'T EAT. It is galling to no end.
Because, of courses, (for today at least), I can eat nothing but soft, cold things like jello or yoghurt or icecream. These foods, after not having eaten anything at all, are remarkably un-filling. and then there are commercials about crispy fresh french breads and cereals; potato chips and steak; and reading, there was curries and pastries, and various kinds of roast meats (and they're even things like rooks and rats and stray cats, which is probably says a lot about how hungry i am)
and my family keeps talking about dinner and throwing out the most delicious-sounding suggestions that I STILL CAN'T EAT! grrr; i kind of hate them.
I even have leftover nacho salad in the fridge. *sigh*

And at least annie still plays fetch for me and brought me several glasses of apple juice.

finished reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I still love him.
It's a wonderful book. Wonderful, wonderful. READ IT. DO IT NOW. DON'T ASK QUESTIONS. GO. LIBRARY, BOOKSTORE, NOW.

But I'm in remarkably little pain. this is looking promising. I would appreciate any ongoing well-wishes anyone wouldn't mind sparing me m (__) m

japanese 2, annie, omoide, food 3, mi familia, (r-.-)r, the jianjian, america 2
