The process in a nutshell:
all of the New Haven Interdisrict Magnet schools have a true lottery system. According to the "official rules", we can select three (and only three) schools to apply to. First, second, and third choice schools are listed on a single application due Friday, Feb. 13 (and you better believe I'll be hand-delivering ours to the Magnet Office). Once the app. is processed, we'll receive a Receipt Letter containing a PIN number within 2 weeks. The actual Lottery will be held Tues, March 3, and results will be mailed by March 9. Upon receipt of the results, we're instructed to phone the office with our PIN # in order to confirm placement. BUT, if Anna doesn't make it into any one of our choices, she'll be placed on a waiting list for all three.

If Anna was applying to kindergarten, we would stand a good chance of scoring a place, but since she'll be entering first grade, slots are LI-MI-TED. Still, with her love of reading, math, science, and the arts, I have faith Anna will do well no matter which school she winds-up attending...
