ok.so these are direct excerpts out of my psych book...except for (USA, Canada, N europe) and (latinos and) which i just added in for contextual understanding help. : ) but all very true, and i was happy to see that the people made the press. : )
"In such cultures (USA, Canada, N europe) therefore, it is considered the height of rudeness (or high status) to keep someone waiting. But in Mexico, southern Europe, the Middle East, South America, and africa, time is organized along parallel lines. People do many things at once, and the needs of friends and family supersede mere appointments. latinos and middle easterners think nothing of waiting for hours or days to see someone. the idea of having to be somewhere on time, as if time were more important than a person, is unthinkable."
"(latinos and) arabs like to stand close enough to feel your breath, touch your arm, and see the pupils of your eyes-a distance that makes most white AMericans, Canadians, and northern Europeans uneasy, unless they are talking intimately with a lover. haha. The English and swedes stand farthest apart when they converse;southern europeans stand closer; and latin americans and arabs stand the closest."
yeah. so i don't really mind reading psych and soc most of the time. but astronomy is a butt to read. haha. suck. oh well.
