I did it in part from a tutorial, but there were no models or references involved.

ah. yes, it was from a totally blank screen. Yes, I created every single part myself, from the ferrule to the shadow to the tip, etc. I used Photoshop because ... that's what the tutorial was for; I didn't have one for Illustrator. In fact, I haven't ever seen any illustrator tutes online.

Illustrator might be a better tool for the drawing and such, but PS is a better tool to create the effects on the shape.

thanks! it's not easy to push myself to do it, but I'm doing it. Every day I try to do a little -- draw, photoshop, whatever.
