what I'm reading

What am I reading now? Well, I never got into Buffy the Vampire Slayer myself. I know many people who are quite manic about it, but me -- meh. Vampires don't look or act like that, in my world; then again I'm an old-school Masquerade - Camarilla - Sabbat wonk. I feel especially drawn to the Lasombra, though I started out playing a Ventrue prince. The prince was the city leader -- ah, that was some fun times.

I have read a fair number of graphic novels. Right now, though, I'm working on a ... ten or eleven book cycle, only one with less than 900 pages. This is one of the first times I've taken on such an epic undertaking -- and continued it. At one time I read the Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony. Much shorter, and it got rather preachy halfway through, so I quit.

Anyway, now I am reading Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series, and I'm on the last three books right now. They're quite good, and surprisingly deep for fantasy work. I've been reading them since about the beginning of the year, having taken two or three breaks. Over the latest break I read "Mass Effect: Revelation" by Drew Karpyshyn -- I got the game and the book at the same time, and wife Gina made me promise to read the book before I played the game.

Which I did, and I'm glad of it. I really really like this game, and my reading of the book has enhanced the gameplay for me.

By the way, in doing the research for this post, I found out that the the author of these books has allowed them to be turned into a TV series called "Legend of the Seeker." I am so stoked about this! It's being directed by Sam Raimi, who did Hercules and Xena. We'll see how good it is; it premieres the first of November this year, though I can't find what channel, exactly. The announcement suggests either ABC, Disney, or ABC Family. I have already set myself a reminder to look for it.

Blogging is good for something, after all! What a surprise ;)

What are you excited about these days?

happy, news, books
