Tool came on. I really like rocking out to this song, as well as a lot of other songs from this album. I got to work before it was over, but I was early, so I stayed in to finish the song (how many of you do this?). One of the new guys came out get a jacket from his car parked next to mine. I didn't think anything of it, really.
He was smoking just outside the door when I was going in. "Little bit o' Tool in the morning, hm?" he asked as I walked up.
"It's a great way to start the day," I replied, and he agreed.
After going in, I realised ... this little exchange pleased me inordinately.
I love this sort of thing -- these little "reality checks" that tell people that they have some things in common. "Great weather, isn't it?" is another one. That gets a grunt from me, because I hate talking about the weather. Same sort of thing, though.
Anyone know what the term for these sorts of things is? Anyone have any feelings on the matter?
