I like the way that this ended, with them not getting together. Soulless Sam was a whole different person and Dean would have been cheating on his Sammy with the 'imposter', nice angsty story, thanks for sharing

Thank you! :) I'm really glad you liked them not getting together here. I feel like while of course the temptation is there, I just couldn't bring myself to have Dean act on it! They really are two different people, and that's one of the things that makes their interactions so interesting to me~ So I'm glad all of that worked here.

Thanks so much for reading. :)

I agree with chellexxx, it would have been cheating. Good look at Sam and Dean's relationship here. Thanks for sharing this!

Yes, I agree with her too! I just couldn't see Dean going through with it here. ;)

And thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed this. :)

I'm glad Dean didn't give in, too. It's the difference between love and need. He loves his Sam, and this would just be fucking. I know what you mean about liking RoboSam more the second time around. I had the same reaction. There's something really interesting about his honesty, once he's outed as soulless.

Yeah, I think his honesty, and what that sets up as far as possible conversations and interactions with him and Dean is what really strikes me as interesting about that character. Maybe it was just too much of a shock for me the first time around, and that's why I didn't appreciate it as much. ;)

Thanks so much for reading! :)

I love all of Dean's thoughts here, especially how protective he is of Old Sam. It's such a strange thought that his brother is physically with him, and yet it's still not Sam.

And I think it took a second watching of season 6 with RoboSam before I started seeing his potential - his perception especially, and dammit, you have that so well here, especially that off-handedness with everything that doesn't directly affect him.

Lol, I could go either way with Dean giving in or not. I think if he had, it would have been an angsty, self-hating road, but I'm okay with that. However, I am in love with your dialogue between the boys, and Dean having to refuse Sam several times just breaks my heart.

Aww, thank you! <3 I think it's that pure, unadulterated honesty that's so compelling to me, especially coming from a character that was, generally speaking, pretty honest to begin with! But you're right - without the emotional baggage, he's so much more perceptive, and that comes out in so many interesting ways that I really don't think I appreciated the first time I saw it.

And yeah, I actually started writing this thinking that it would have a very different ending! Because I certainly don't think it would be beyond Dean to just give in, and live with that regret and angst... But at least with this fic, it just felt more right to have him refuse. So I'm really glad you liked that, and that it all felt IC!

Anyway, thank you so much for the lovely comment - I really appreciate it. :)

This was so in character! I mean I know the boys are not together that way in canon, but all the more kudos to you for making it seem like they are! I loved how authentic Dean's voice was from the perspective of the character in that particular point, both in the big and in the small picture. The prose had such an edge to it, playing out beautifully the angst and the complexity of Sam and Dean's unique world. Lovely work!♥

It makes me so happy to hear you say that it felt IC. <3 Because even though nothing happens between them here, part of me was worried about it feeling right, and believable and all that, that Sam would even propose it. ;) I'm really glad that Dean's voice worked here, too, and that it had the right amount of edginess. :D

Anyway, thank you! I'm so glad you liked this. :)
