slow me down lord
After hearing the ad for the Oasis documentary “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” too often, I came across this prayer entitled “Slow Me Down Lord”.
Although I am at a point when I think I’ve stuck myself in a comfortable rut and that life and opportunities are passing me by, the words in this prayer still moved me. I particularly like the first few lines:
“Slow me down Lord. Ease the pounding of my heart by the quieting of my mind. Steady my hurried pace. Give me, amidst the day's confusion, the calmness of the everlasting hills...”
I’ve already mastered the art of being slow all too well. However, I am still easily excited (translation: panicked) and have the noisiest mind in the world. Oh lord would I love to have me some of that kind of inner peace.
