Hi anajayme - I recognize your name from last summer. You had written me a sweet note after my mom died. You know, my mom gave me a gift when she left. As we both struggled with our weight and my mom grew up with an eating disorder... anyway, I lost a bunch of weight and haven't gained it back. It just happened - I am 5'61/2 and weigh 95 now.

The secret is to not follow the rules that everyone else follows and just do what is right for you. I only eat whole grain, very little protein, mostly at night, lots of fiber. Fiber one is a gift from god! I eat 1/4 c. for breakfast (at about 11 a.m.) with 1/4 c. of soy milk. Then I workout everyday after work, and then eat dinner around 11 pm - 2 egg whites, salad. Then I munch all night on popcorn, nonfat yogurt, fiber one, fudgsicles, et...

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is to make your own rules. It's not "all about protein" or starving your self, or fasting. It's a "life eating plan". What can you live with/on for the rest of your life?

Hope th at helps. Good to see you online!

Hey, I guess if there's anything bittersweet about it, at least you weigh 95! That's awesome. You're right, what works for other people definitely does not work for me - I did NutriSystem for two weeks and it was such a stupid idea. I was eating way more than usual, and didn't make any progress at all.
I love your plan b/c I have a major fudgsicle addiction (sometimes, not right now though) - and b/c usually I have a big problem w/eating at night. At the moment, the fast has been going really well though, so hopefully that will continue. See you on the online soon - glad you're still here, there aren't that many ppl I recognize, unless everyone has new names, haha.

I know what you mean - everyone is new and the same questions go round and round. I rarely log on but was happy I did and saw your name. I can't remember if you live alone, but I really like eating at night - even if I'm sleep deprived. I hate eating in public and at night I can actually enjoy the food.

When you get off the fast, just remember - try to stick with only whole grain, non fat, and lots of fruits and veggies. All natural - I find I can eat more that way. Oh - and I have 2 HUGE bowls of popcorn over every night. If you can develop a routine and eat the same things every day/night; log your total calories everyday, and be sure to eat high fiber for breakfast (i'm telling you -fiber one is KEY). and measure everything.

Good luck! Keep in touch and write when you need a friend.

Thanks! Yeah, that's pretty much my plan, except instead of whole grain, I'm going to be sure to get a lot of protein from tuna, other fish, cottage cheese, etc. 2 yrs ago, my hair was falling out in clumps, and it's not fully the same again, but I don't ever want to go through that again. Protein is key for that. Do you drink Metamucil? It's basically a fiber drink (the sugar free version has almost no cals) and it totally helps keep my system going.

I do live alone, but unfortunately I hate the fact that I usually eat at night. All day long, I'm fine b/c I'm around people and stuff - I tend to lose control and get really gross w/binging when I'm alone. Yuck. Well, so far the juice fast is going awesome. Wish me luck, and talk to you soon. Glad you're still on the boards. Oh yeah, I wanted to ask - how is your dad doing?

I really believe in part of the "eat right for your blood type diet". I have type A and its right on (more vegetarian, not good with meat, protein). I found that if I eat protein I gain weight and feel sick after eating. And I lost a bunch of weight once I eliminated the bad foods. But everyone has to find what works for them. I kind of wish I didn't eat at night either, but I don't consider it binging because it's just when I eat. If I eat during the day I feel guilty, obsess over it, feel fat, etc... I don't really think about it because I'm so tired when I eat at night ( ... )

That's really interesting - I've never heard that before. Do you know what a type AB should eat? (That would be me, haha.) You're lucky not to be binging at night - it's definitely often a binge for me.

I'm so sorry about your dad. I hope you are able to go visit him sometime soon. I'm sure he would really love that (although I can't imagine how painful it will be for you.)
