The Friday Five for 18 June 2010: A Day at the Beach
1. Is your favorite beach at the lake or ocean? The ocean! I like lakes but I love the ocean.
2. Do you wear a life jacket when you go swimming? Are you out of your mind?
3. Do you enjoy water sports, such as skiing and boating? I tried water skiing once. It was fun but I don't care if I never get to do it again. I love boating but I don't have the energy or money to devote to a boat of my own. I like snorkelling, I enjoy SCUBA diving, though I haven't done it much recently (no dive buddy and the water near my home is too cold), and I like swimming. As for other water sports, nobody has ever invited me to try them, but I'm willing. :-)
4. Do you ever think about the animals that live in the water when you are swimming? Yes I do. I try not to think of sharks, but I enjoy swimming in the same water with other animals.
5. Do you like to just lay in the sun or do you want to play in the water as well? I don't like laying in the sun at all -- don't want to get burned, get wrinkled, or get skin cancer. I only stay in the sun for short periods of time. I love walking along the shoreline in the surf, and wading into the water about knee deep. I very rarely actually swim in the ocean. I used to swim laps at my local pool until it closed for repair.
Hmmm, today is one of those perfect summer days, sunny, breezy, no clouds, high of 85F, and I have the afternoon off. I may have to stop at home for a pair of shorts and then drive to my favorite south shore beach.
