Matthews with a lot of zeros

Angels sign Gary Matthews Jr.

5 years, $50 million and a partial no-trade clause for a 33 year old, lifetime .263 hitter with not so great power and few stolen bases.

Why not keep Figgins (at $2.25 million) in center and continue hunting for a 3rd baseman?

Did I mention it's a $50 million dollar deal? As in $50,000,000. And he'll be 38 when the contract ends?

Humm, not really the acquisition I was hoping for.

Although I think Speier may prove a nice addition.
