Quote of the day- "I'd rather be happy than be admired for all of this supposed strength I have."Last night was a baaaaad culmination to this week so far. I'm really starting to stress about the whole roommate thing. There was one girl who was supposed to come by and look at the room this week but she stopped responding to my calls and messages ( Read more... )

Hiya! *hugs back*

As far as the roommate stuff goes, my last roommate moved out the beginnging of March to move in with her boyfriend. I found a girl on roommates.com from Australia who was moving to the US and needed a place to stay. She kept putting me off until the week before the conference and I eventually told her to find somewhere else because her english kept getting worse and worse like she was some scammer just pretending to be moving. Then I had a couple of people interested, but they all found other places apparently and stoppped responding to my messages. The one this week was my last lead and it really sounded like she was interested, so I was pretty depressed when she said no. But I got online and found a new roommate search website with some new people so here's hoping I find someone there.

My sister did move in with me, but she is a college student and in order to go back to her current college come fall she has to earn a ton of money this summer. And considering she can't really live with our parents and work (cuz my parents live in the middle of nowhere and my sister doesnt have her own car), I'm pretty much the only person she can crash with and be able to earn all the money she needs to go back to Hendrix this fall. So I dont charge her anything for staying with me.

Yeah, I met epros on myspace. She's pretty cool. At first I was a bit confused who she was. lol. But it all is clear now. :-) It's nice to actually be meeting other writers who actually write, because the few writers I know down here are "wannabe" writers but talk more than they write.

I think the next writing project I want to do is work on a story for a children's picture book and maybe convince one of my artist friends to illustrate it so I will have something to pitch at the next writing conference I go to. Lol. I have a couple of ideas bouncing around right now...but I have also been pretty busy with work and this finding a new roommate thing.

I'm planning on going to the OCW conference in October. I got the registration materials in the mail back the end of April. I havent sent them in yet, but I was waiting til I had a new roommate to spend any more money. lol. The deadline to preregister isnt until August I think (at least that's the contest deadline). I think you can also print out all of the materials from their website. At least that's what I did last year. I stumbled upon the conference website a week before the contest deadline last year, whipped out a story for the contest and decided to attend the conference cuz I'd never been to one before. Lol. I'm really glad I stumbled across that website, because I learned a lot about these other writing events and organizations when I went there (which I had no idea existed prior to that) and I feel like I'm more a part of the writing world now than I was a year ago because of the connections I've made at these conferences...(if that makes any sense). If you dont have it already, the website for the October conference is: http://www.ozarkcreativewriters.org/ and they already have their list of contests posted on the website for this year's conference if you want to participate in any of those. ;-)
