Yesterday morning, on my way out, I took some pictures of the remnants of Thursday's storm, because the forecast predicted that the temperatures would be going up and no doubt the ice would be melted by noontime.
I have to say that as much as I despise winter, there are some things about it that are remarkably beautiful, and some sights that do cheer me up in spite of what the cold and the dark do to my head.
You can see by these pictures what a weird La Nina kind of winter it's been--the green things coming up when it warms only to be encased in ice when the storms come...
...as well as the frozen late-season buds on the Rose of Sharon...
And even a dead weed becomes something fantastic and magical when tinseled with an icy overcoat...
