Holy cow....
This made me cry.
For absolutely all the right reasons.
Every once in awhile, in this life, we get to witness an event that is so touching, so beautiful, so glorious as to bring tears to our eyes almost in spite of ourselves.
Something tells me I'm not going to forget this.
And that the memory will come at the moment I start to believe that people suck, and that there are no miracles, and that humanity is on its way, on well-greased rollerskates, to Hell.
I will remember the faces of the judges, transformed from sardonic and cynical worldly-wise to childlike wonder and astonishment, so much that even that nasty hardass Simon Cowell let himself be touched. (And did you see what it did to his face when that happened?)
I will remember the hopelessly hopeful voice of a regular guy as he overcame his fear and let his heart pour out of his mouth as he met his finest moment and fell in love with it.
And I will remember the tears and the cheers and the explosively smiling faces of the crowd as they watched one of their own take his place in the spotlight and win one for all of them.
"Nessun dorma"--"none shall sleep..."
Well...even if I sleep, it will be a bit more sweetly because of this.
Astonishing. Simply astonishing.
