...thanks to Paul, who helped enormously by mashing the potatoes and shucking the corn and keeping me reasonably sane as I fried 20 pieces of chicken, as well as in general.
...thanks to Paul, who I can leave alone in a room with my parents and not come back to uncomfortable silence.
...thanks to Paul, who understands better than anyone I know the bittersweet nature of this day, and all its ramifications.
...thanks to Paul, who always listens, and always treats me with compassion and respect.
...thanks to Paul, who reminds me to laugh at the absurdity that is life, and who also reminds me that life is so wonderful, even when it is hard, as to be a miracle.
...thanks to Paul--who is, in many ways, the most nurturing Mother-Spirit I know....and so shares in this day as well...
As do all of you who care for others in a way that helps them grow, because that's what being a real mother IS, whether you have biological children or not.
Thanks to Paul, and thanks to all of you who have embraced the Spirit of Mother, because we need you--now more than ever.
paul,
gratitude,
good things,
being married
