All you can eat

We're having a beautiful day today, one that found me seeing three robins in our yard and little crocuses and the sturdy leaves of hyacinth coming up in front of Mother and Dad's house. But the weather forecast is calling for what may or may not be measurable snow overnight, so I wanted to make sure that the backyard birds had their feeder full and some suet to keep them toasty.

They didn't have pre-made suet balls in the market (they sometimes do), so I had Paul get the net bag that the old ones were in and made some new ones. They DID have some lovely slabs of suet, and I sent them through the meat grinder to make mince, which I then mixed and rolled into some birdseed, lovely stuff with cracked corn and black sunflower seed, that was too much to put into the tall feeder. Shape into balls, slap back into the net bag and voila--new suet balls for the birdies!

So now we wait for the snow, but we are prepared!

Everybody eats in this house.

It's the law.
