In a comment by a person with whom I have no doubt I violently disagree, except on this one point...

"I don't think God meant for us to 'celebrate' his Son's birth by spending money we don't have to buy things we don't need for people we don't like."

Can I get an amen?

christmas

AMEN! I have less than $100 in my bank account (after paying rent in a few hours), and instead of Christmas presents, I am going send the measly amount to my cable company so I don't go insane from lack of internet.

I think I've made it clear to everyone so far that I just can not afford presents this year. The only person who didn't understand was my brother.

My sister finally got the point this year, after years of me saying, "NO, I can't go in on an expensive gift for my parents. They don't want it in the first place, and, DUH! I'm not working!!"

My brother is still of the opinion that you should go broke to give everyone a super expensive gift.
This year, sadly, Alena is the only one I am getting a gift for I believe.

AMEN to that! That's why I started the community art_barter, and the few people that may get presents this year are getting handmade ones that are practical, like scarves. Also trying my hand at baking again this year, though I think the ingredients cost more than shopping for gifts. Holy sh*t!! Anything I do buy will be coming from friend's websites or local businesses. That probably will not happen as money is too damn tight this year to spend on useless crap. I got enough on my own website to find a decent gift for pretty much anyone. My Christmas kitty toys pretty much sum it up: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=17895650... )

I got some of that elderberry jam, and it ROCKS...

Thumbprint cookies made from that stuff would be uber good.

It was crowded the day Belle and I were there so I ended up staying in one place holding the basket while she ran around getting the stuff she wanted. I was at that jams/jellies/preserves wall, slowly making my way from one end to the other. There's some amazing stuff there and it ALL looked good to me.

Not sayin my friends' stuff is useless crap, but anything sold by WalFart is. ;)
