I caught some kind of bug, so I've been dealing with a slightly congested nose and a REALLY scratchy throat. I was telling Macneil tonight how I don't feel like I'm around people enough to have caught anything. But I guess I was around a bunch of people for the holiday visits and then Ansel and I met up with one of his friends and his mom a couple of days ago. Ansel is such a little firecracker and oh my god it is hard when I don't have the energy to deal. Why he wants to literally leap, kick, flail, grab, headbutt, and crawl all over when I am trying to nurse him to sleep (yes he was even latched most of that time!) I will probably never know. I told my mom it is like a rodeo sometimes. And here I am feeling all run down and hardly able to cope. I did get a 30 minute nap in with him this afternoon so I am grateful for that.
So yea, he's crawling. He's crawling at lightning speed and pulling up to standing and hanging on with only one arm and having lots of tumbles. And the last time we weighed him at his 6 month checkup he was exactly 19 pounds.
He probably needs more time outside. I think he might be stir crazy, if that is possible at the tender age of 6.5 months.
I've been enjoying my new recipe blog. I mean, I'm cooking all of this stuff all of the time anyway, and people ask me for recipes all the time, so it's a good project to get it all in one place and I'm developing a record of my impressions and ideas along the way. I also get to tout some of the good vegan products out there. So far I have posted recipes for the Red Bean Stew that I served at our wedding reception, and for Field Roast with Veggies Bake, Vegan Bean Enchiladas, Vegan Pot Pie, and I reviewed the Oopa Moussaka recipe from the Native Foods Cookbook. Next post will be about our homemade pizzas. See my previous post if you would like the URL.
Hope the new year is off to a good start for everyone. 'Till soon!
