why the frong is she teaching? because she needs to fill her quota for her employment at university while she does what matters to her, namely her research (whether or not she has an intern, i'm not going to speculate on)
i've had a prof who taught an entire course based on something he yoinked out of his backside, it didn't exist in textbooks nor online, so when it came time to study, naturally, a big 'wtf?' popped up... Oh, did i mention that this prof was pulled from teaching a first year chem class 'cause he was judged incompetent?
another course, another prof: spent the first third of the course teaching us an alternate history that was largely irrelevant beyond giving us an intro to what the equations would look like, provided no in-class midterm review (class avg. on the midterm was 45%, i wonder why...) provided no review for the final either, instead, he showed us how to breathe properly by demonstrating a modified vulcan deathgrip on himself(too bad it didn't work), this went on for at least 10 minutes...
So yeah, that's life as a carleton chem student...
