...So here we were attending that boring camp in Gemaizee in Downtown, dragging ourselves from session 2 session having barelty slept the night b4 cos i hv a bio test 2morrow & didn't have another time 2 study... We were trying 2 skip a few by simply walking out or saying we needed the bathroom... On 1 of these occasions, we were directly pushed back inside the class after hearing what we assumed 2 b a quary of some sort. It turns out it was gunshots fired by demonstators Downtown who were protesting against the Danish caricatures against Islam. However things had gotten out of hand & they had broken into the Danish consulate, burned it down & destroyed everything in it, then they had simply destroyed anything in their way including cars, buildings even a couple of churches. We could see them from our windows (they had kept us all inside the classes 4 fear of being shot by mistake) holding their sticks & weapons with the turbans on some of their heads, & black or green flags in their hands. It was really scary 2 see their looks & the fumes from the consulate & hear rumors from here & there about what was really happening, although we knew & were assured by the leaders that we were perfectly safe. They brought us all 2gether (200 girls >17) & told us we were going 2 stop the camp & go home as soon as the army officers would declare it safe 4 us 2 do so. We rejoiced inwardly because we were finally done with the boring crap & were finally going 2 go home & be able 2 study among other things... However we were much more angered by the situation especially after we got 2 hear more... So we packed up our stuff (it was the fastest 'decampement' i ever saw) & distributed ourselves in the cars that were available. We were then accompanied out by a truck of soldiers & we went in a convoy of cars. It was kinda cool all in all like living a war experience knowing u were safe from harm & we were more than glad 2 leave but it is really low & infuriating how ppl can act so barbaicly because of a stupid joke ( i admit it wasn't the best caricature) that didn't even have anything 2 do with Lebanon & here were the lebanese, as usual, bearing the consequences... Our poor country is deteriorating evry day in civilization & respect, God only knows till when this'll go on!!!
