Several weeks ago I was informed that, due to my lack of consideration for the question of intent, my moral system was "deeply flawed."

I couldn't help thinking of the person who told me that today when I heard Ha'aretz' Zev Schiff's writing off of civilian deaths in Beirut as "collateral damage" on Morning Edition.

[edit: and for the record, I don't dismiss the importance of intentions in questions of morality or ethics; but I do strongly hold that actions speak more loudly than words or intentions, and consequences drown out the combined voices of all three.]
