one of my few conolations at work is my view. Most of the cubicles at my workplace have the low waist-high walls, except of course for the people near the windows who have high walls, blocking everyone else's view out the windows.

But by some accident of location, there's a clear line of sight right over my monitor to a window, where the copy machine is located and where nobody sits and therefore closes the blinds against glare. That window perfectly frames the Copley/Kenmore skyline with the Pru on the right and the Hancock on the left, and this tree in the foreground that is bright green and blows in the breeze.

Or at least there was a direct line of sight on Monday, before the manager of the department in the cubes next to ours decided that all their employees need these 4' tall cubby boxes on their desks. Just wide enough that it fills the gap between the tall cubicles on the left and the wall on the right.

I don't want to be a whiner, I don't want to raise a stink, and certainly I don't want to begrudge a colleague the equipment they need to do their job. But environment is important, and it's getting claustrophobic in here.

Man, it's these kinds of things that just ratchet the petulance index right up there into the red zone in spite of my best efforts to maintain a positive attitude

job, petulance
