on personality tests, even personality disorder tests, what does it mean when it says, detail oriented or focused on the big picture? how can someone be one or the other? everything's connected, there are countless shades of grey. i don't really understand it. it doesn't seem to mean anything.

I'll put this in the form of art and painting, since that's what you posted about over in art_theoryIn the art world, a person that can see the "big picture" can look at a painting and understand it's place in art history -- all the paintings that preceeded it and informed it. That person can also see the paintings place in its current place and time, and whether the painting is relevant, marketable, sellable, important or trashy ( ... )
