Thoughts on lolitas, websites and the comm
For a "foreigner" (a complete stranger outside the fashion), what matters is to know what that crazy fashion style is, and see pictures.
For a newcomer, what matters is to understand how lolita works (how not to get it wrong, how not to be an ita), where to buy/commission it and see good references (photos/pictures)
For a seasoned lolita, what matters is to see new ideas (photos/píctures)
For a lolita "veteran", what matters is to see news - trends, brands and indie brands collections/new items, see a striking outfit that nobody has ever thought about. Also, events (fashion cons or big "meetings") and pictures (photos maybe divided by sub-style or color palette).
For many people on the groups above, there should also be a place for discussion: debate on trends, artists, lifestyles, tutorials, shops, everything related to the lolita world.
How can one put ALL OF THIS in one website only?
The bigger the group, the more content, but also the bigger becomes the mess.
EGL once was huge and nowadays goes slow, because there's few new things and there is just too much "newbie" questions (Is bodyline ok? How do I clean this? Help me coord?), the memories function is a mess (in my opinion) with many broken links, it's not easy to navigate.
Other forums (on lj or not) have little to no movement too, since facebook is easier and there are plenty of grups in it.
Lolitafashion.org is the most complete website so far, despite being outdated. However, someone who's been longer in the fashion won't access the website often because there's no news in it (latest update was in 2008 if I'm not mistaken, the same year the website was opened).
Is there anything really useful for lolitas in all their "phases" or is it just an absurd dream and the worldwide commmunity will keep withering, little by little?

pra um estranho, interessa saber o que é o estilo e ver fotos.
pra uma novata, interessa entender como funciona (como não errar), onde comprar/mandar fazer e ver referências boas (fotos).
pra uma com experiência, interessa ver idéias novas (fotos).
pra uma veterana, interessa ver novidades (tendências, coleções novas de lojas, algum outfit muito louco que mostra novas possibilidades), eventos e fotos (separadas por sub-estilo ou por paleta de cores)
pra muitas pessoas dos grupos acima, interessa ter como discutir coisas: uma tendência, um artista influente, estilo de vida, tutoriais, enfim, coisas relacionadas ao mundo lolita.
Como faz pra colocar tudo isso num único site?
Quanto maior o grupo, mais conteúdo, mas mais bagunçado fica.
A EGL foi enorme e hoje em dia tá fraca, porque não recebe nada de novo e tem perguntas de novatas demais (as listas de referência, as "memories" estão muitas com os links desatualizados e não é fácil de achar).
Os outros fóruns (do lj ou não) andam pouco movimentados tbm, simplesmente porque o facebook torna tudo mais prático.
O Lolitafashion.org é o mais completo até o momento, apesar de desatualizado, e uma lolita que está na moda há mais tempo não sente vontade de entrar com frequência no site simplesmente porque não tem nenhuma atualização (a última foi em 2008, mesmo ano que o site abriu).
Será que existe alguma coisa que seria realmente útil pra lolitas em todas as suas fases ou isso é um sonho absurdo e a comunidade internacional vai continuar morrendo aos poucos?
