I had an English teacher who said he liked planning holidays better than the holiday itself. I kinda see his point now, because I'm pretty excited about the whole planning of it.
I have no idea why, but I don't have classes today. *shrugs* So, we're going to the cinema. There's a new Brazilian movie about the elite squad of the military police. It's the blockbuster of illegally sold dvd (a.k.a "pirate" dvds). Someone somehow got a copy of the film and started selling on the streets. Turned out to be great marketing because the movie has been the topic of hour for the past couple of months. (Or a little longer than that.)
Tomorrow is a national holiday (the day of the patroness saint of Brazil and Children's Day), so we're going to the beach. I hope it will be sunny this time. Last time I went to the beach all I got was goosebumps because of the wind. Friday will also be Oct/12, so I think there will be some pics.
On Saturday, there's a friends birthday party. It will be pretty fun too. I just need to make sure if it is or not a surprise party (the friend who told me about wasn't sure either).
On Sunday, we'll have the Children's Day party at church. We'll do a small play using some popular characters from the Mexican tv show "El Chavo del Ocho". I'm responsible for the make-up. El Chavo del Ocho has been playing in a Brazilian network for nearly two decades now. The owner of the channel wanted to buy some Mexican soaps and they said he'd only buy it if he took Chavo too. Turned out kids loved el Chavo and we still have reruns from the same old episode. And we still laugh. (Now there's an animated cartoon version.)
Next Monday is Teacher's Day, so no classes again. *grins* I don't know yet what we're gonna do, but in case there's nothing to be done, I might schedule a tour downtown. I have to write a report about the area and I have some weird friends who would come with me. Since I'm gonna have to study anyway, might as well pass the information on and practice my tour guide abilities.
On Tuesday (not a holiday), there's an event from the Tchech Republic Tourism Ministry. Another report to write. it doesn't have much fun potential, since Thassia and I are going as agents, but it's us, so it could be fun anyway. I was advised to take a suitcase with wheels because of the amount of material I'll probably carry home.
